FAQS
-
Chorus is a creator-led nonprofit program focused on empowering and expanding the pro-democracy internet. As part of that mission, the organization connects independent journalists, podcasters, social media influencers, and content creators with the resources they need to know the issues, inform their audiences, and grow their channels in order to have a broader reach.

We want the United States to be recognized as a healthy, functioning democracy by every credible global index. To achieve this, Americans must have access to accurate, timely information about our political ecosystem that meets them where they are – on social media.
By supporting content creators and providing them with both the facts and high-quality strategic support, Chorus can help reach greater audiences and work toward a more inclusive, participatory democracy. We are especially focused on helping creators become self-sustaining and reliant so that once they graduate our program, they are no longer reliant on programs like ours to stay in this work, and can continue creating pro-democracy content full-time.
-
The current cohort of Chorus creators consists of 75 influencers. The Chorus team is a small but mighty group of experts in digital strategy, including founder Brian Tyler Cohen and Gen-Z creator, Olivia Julianna.
Chorus was also co-founded by the Creator Council, an 11-person advisory group with massive followings across all major platforms and a variety of content niches. These individuals provide Chorus creators with guidance on how to grow an online audience and talk about politics persuasively within their respective niches. Learn more here.

Chorus’s Incubator Program is a vibrant, pro-democracy learning community for content creators. Participants receive a monthly stipend – calibrated to the level of involvement you can commit to the learning sessions – to support creators for their time with the program.
Additional benefits of the program include:
Daily Analytics Report: Based on performance data from across the several digital platforms, Chorus provides analysis on what pro-democracy topics and news are gaining traction during short daily sessions. This includes daily fact sheets that outline the news and truth behind the discourse of the day.
Weekly Trainings: Chorus offers weekly trainings to help creators maximize audience reach and impact, to become self-sustaining, and ensure that pro-democracy information gets to as broad an audience as possible. Trainings include analytics and metrics tracking, best practices for various platforms (YouTube, X, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Substack, etc.), deep dives on titling & thumbnailing, tips for avoiding content creation burnout, fact checking 101, podcasting best practices, fireside chats with leaders in digital media, and more.
Breakout Sessions: To help ensure the program works for content creators of all kinds, Chorus organizes breakout sessions which focus on overlapping platform niches and interests.
Mentorship: Creators will have the chance to be matched with other creators who can help them meet their growth goals; mentorship can include regular check-ins, content collaborations, and more.
Community Gatherings: Chorus hosts virtual community gatherings and events for creators to network, discuss collaborations, and collect peer-to-peer feedback throughout cohort sessions.
Chorus Newsroom: Through our Newsroom program, Chorus helps creators secure interviews with policymakers, nonprofit leaders, and subject matter experts; obtain press credentials for events; and access research resources from partner organizations.
Chorus Studios. The Chorus toolkit includes editing software, social listening tools, and digital security services. We teach creators how to use each tool and sponsor access, either through group subscriptions or as part of their monthly stipend.

Nope. Chorus is a creator-led nonpartisan nonprofit with a really different model in the creator space. We don’t pay creators to produce content – we just give you space to learn more about how to communicate effectively and grow your platforms. Please note that we do ask Incubator participants to submit some pieces of content for growth analysis and retain the right to share our analysis of overall performance.
-
The Chorus application process includes 11 evaluation questions designed to evaluate communication skills, potential for growth, interest in Chorus, and more. Candidates may respond in writing, or as an audio/video recording. Once submitted, applicants are reviewed by a 10-person committee, which includes five full-time content creators.
Although we are not currently accepting applications, please fill out this brief survey to join our contact list and get notified as soon as the next recruitment period begins.

Creators maintain full creative control over their platforms and are not obligated to post any specific content as part of this program. They maintain the freedom to individually create any content they want on their own behalf (including engaging in their own political activity or making whatever endorsements they would like) — as long as such activities are not on behalf of Chorus and Chorus funds are only used in compliance with 501c4 regulations.
Creators are not obligated to get approval from the Chorus staff for their external partnerships or interviews, and will never be compelled to attend an event or post content at a specific event. Any media opportunities and meetings that Chorus shares are entirely opt-in.
-
Instead of being paid to make specific posts, creators are compensated for their time spent actively engaging in a learning community, which includes: attending weekly training sessions, collaborating with or mentoring their peers, sharing feedback in surveys, putting the facts out there only as they see fit, and more.
Weekly time commitments and associated attendance expectations are calibrated according to monthly stipend amount. Creators will also be asked to complete two reports over the 6-month term to summarize the ways in which they engaged with the program.
-
As a section 501(c)(4) nonprofit program, Chorus implements all programs in full compliance with the applicable tax code regulations. The effort has also gathered grassroots support from over 5,000 individuals since launching in December 2024, and is currently fiscally sponsored by the Sixteen Thirty Fund.
