Josh Helfgott

Josh Helfgott is a digital creator, educator, and advocate best known for his viral “Gay News” series on TikTok, where he breaks down LGBTQ+ history, civil-rights issues, and current political battles with clarity and heart. Raised on Long Island by his two mothers in a childhood marked by bullying and invisibility, Helfgott turned those early experiences into fuel for storytelling and empowerment.

On TikTok, Helfgott has amassed millions of followers who tune in for his signature intro, “Gay News,” followed by impactful takes on legislation, representation, and youth mobilization.

He also leverages Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) to engage audiences in digestible, bold content on identity, power, and resilience.

Helfgott isn’t just a content creator—he’s a civic mobilizer. He helped galvanize young queer voters during the 2022 U.S. midterm elections and made waves with petitions and organizing around the rights of LGBTQ+ youth and marginalized communities. In addition, his visibility and advocacy led to recognition from organizations such as GLAAD and nomination for influencer awards in the queer media space.

At the core of his work: a promise to the “13-year-old me” who felt alone and unseen—Helfgott crafts media so that young LGBTQ+ people don’t feel invisible, and so they understand their stories matter. Whether he’s flashing a quick social-clip explainer or going deep on policy, his mission remains the same: representation, information, and action.
